Jackie Thrasher has been an Arizona resident for 46 years, moving to Phoenix from Detroit in 1960 .  In her youth she lived in northwest Phoenix, attending Palo Verde Elementary School and Apollo High School in Glendale.  After graduating from high school, Jackie attended Glendale Community College, transferring to Arizona State University and graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental Music Education. 

She currently is the band and orchestra director at Lookout Mountain Elementary, teaching in the Washington Elementary School District for 26 years.  In 2001, Jackie was awarded the District’s Lamp of Learning Award.  Jackie Thrasher resides in northern Glendale with her husband John and is the proud mother of two, Jason and Jessica.
